Beauty

What is beauty? The pocket Oxford English Dictionary, tenth edition, defines beauty as one, a combination of qualities that delights the senses and two, an attractive feature or advantage.

Many people hide their inner beauty by covering up the beauty on the outside. The beauty that makes them special, unique and different from anybody else is what they are covering up so that they look like everybody else. In my own opinion I think that being the same as everybody else is quite erhh… boring. I mean think about it. Imagine if you and your friends like the same movie, have the same view points on that movie and even have the same favourite scene in that movie, would you really have genuine fun? That goes for sport, cars, TV channels and animals. If everyone supported the same team, drove identical cars, watched similar TV shows and cared for or showed interest in the same animal, would life really be fun? There is fun in competition and life in differences.

Now the first definition of beauty I totally agree with. “A combination of qualities that delights the senses.” First of all, your personality should delight you, I’m writing about the personality that has not been covered up, should appeal only to your senses. Once that you feel good and have confidence in yourself, only then and naturally, will it attract the senses of those around you.

The second part of the definition is equally important as the first. “An attractive feature or advantage”, beauty is an attractive distinctive element or aspect. Like the same way the aesthetics of a product make it stand out, the beauty of you being yourself differentiate you from others. Beauty is also an advantage. For example, the action and looks of a puppy give off stimuli that people sense and react to. A reaction from many people is wanting to care, love and take responsibility of that puppy. Puppies may use their appearance and playful behaviour to get doggy treats. This my friend is an advantage they have. Your beauty should not only benefit you but it should help those around you. Everyone around you should be happy including you, if you are not ‘ok’ with it then take your beauty with you to where you will be happy.

Outer beauty may be the first sight and look but inner beauty will be the first check and tick.

Embracing the difference you have from others is awesome. You don’t only boost your self-esteem; you also learn to accept the beauty you are. You live a satisfied, relaxed and blissful life and you automatically draw others towards you. After all, opposites attract 😉
